Job Overview
Profee Coder – Urology (Remote) – Accountable for evaluating medical records, providing clinical and surgical abstraction, and assigning appropriate clinical diagnosis and procedure codes.
Pay Range: $23.16 – $34.74 / hour (location, education & experience).
Department: Coding Ambulatory. Shift: Day (8‑hour shift 5:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Mon‑Fri). Employment Type: Full‑time.
Location: Fully remote. Eligible states: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI & WY.

Responsibilities
Evaluate medical records and abstract clinical diagnoses and procedure codes in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines.
Assign ICD‑CM, CPT‑4, and APC codes accurately and promptly to meet department productivity and quality standards.
Consult with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate documentation and determine appropriate codes.
Address National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and reconcile charges as required.
Provide quality assurance for medical records, ensuring compliance with state Medicaid, CMS, OIG, HCFA, and professional standards.
Compile daily and monthly reports and tabulate data from medical records for research or analysis.
Work independently under regular supervision utilizing specialized knowledge for accurate code assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED or equivalent, or an Associate’s degree in a related health care field.
At least 6 months of professional coding experience in a broad range of health care facilities.
Certification: CPC, CCS, CCS‑P, CCA, CPC‑A, RHIA, or RHIT in active status with AAPC or AHIMA.
Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles as recommended by the American Health Information Management Association.
Proficiency in remote work tools, coding software, and abstracting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialty certification in Urology coding.
Experience in Surgical Urology, Gynecology Oncology, or academic coding/guidelines.
At least 1 year of recent E/M Urology coding experience.
