Ideal Candidate
Minimum 1 year recent experience in E/M Urology coding.
Surgical Urology experience preferred.
Certified through AAPC or Ahima (CPC-A level or higher).
Experience in Surgical Urology and Gynecology Oncology coding, academic coding guidelines.
Core Functions
Analyze medical records, assign codes per guidelines, consult providers.
Abstract diagnoses & procedures, complete records, clarify missing info.
Provide quality assurance, ensure compliance with coding rules, state Medicaid, CMS, OIG, HCFA.
Compile daily & monthly reports as assigned.
Work independently under supervision, use specialized knowledge for accurate coding.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED or equivalent with two-year certification in medical record keeping, anatomy, physiology, etc., or Associate’s degree in related health field.
Certification: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC-A, RHIA, RHIT active with AHIMA or AAPC.
Six months professional coding experience in broad range of facilities.
Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles per AHIMA competencies.
Ability to work effectively in remote setting with coding software and systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialty Certification.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
