Job Description We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to support the Chantilly site programs in developing and managing software activities across various active projects/programs. The role is unique, challenging, and rewarding, making a real difference.
Responsibilities
Lead a software team within the Chantilly E&S department, coordinating programs for staffing, recruiting, training, and performance management.
Provide technical support and lead IPT execution, balancing approximately 80% technical / 20% functional duties.
Coordinate with program management office to ensure successful execution while accounting for cost, schedule, and resources.
Be accountable to stakeholders and program managers for project status reviews, impediments/roadblock resolution, and overall engineering/product quality.
Provide technical leadership to ensure best practices, engineering processes, and procedures are fully implemented.
Support the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement and a critical skills growth strategy.
Support the software life cycle engineering execution covering design, development, test/integration, and deployment/sustainment activities.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years experience in software engineering, or Master’s with 3+ years experience.
U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance to start.
Strong communication skills and ability to lead a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Hands‑on programming experience with high‑level languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, C#.
Experience supporting development of critical skills growth strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in computer science or engineering with 3+ years related experience.
Experience managing engineering teams of 6 or more.
Experience with full‑stack software engineering.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins.
Experience with task‑tracking software such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design, management, optimization, and interaction.
Experience with Agile software development, object‑oriented architecture, software integration and testing.
Experience in rapid prototyping and learning new technologies quickly.
Full life‑cycle design, implementation, and feature/automated testing of software.

Salary Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 – $199,600.00. Depending on position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and other incentives. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company performance.
