Senior Principal Engineer, Electrical Component Engineering (hybrid) Join Collins Aerospace (an RTX company) as a senior principal engineer in the electrical component engineering team. The role focuses on managing the lifecycle of electronic, circuit‑board‑level components used across avionics systems, engine controls, power systems, and other high‑performance aerospace products. The position is hybrid, with primary locations in Windsor Locks, CT or Rockford, IL.

What You Will Do:

Understand preferred technologies, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for electrical commodities used on assigned programs.

Apply techniques for the documentation and release of components, processes, technology roadmaps, and design guidelines associated with assigned programs.

Identify, evaluate, and recommend new components and manufacturers for new product design programs and for improving existing manufacturing process yields.

Analyze parametric data, preference codes, and obsolescence prediction data for components.

Review Bill of Materials (BOMs) to ensure maximum health regarding technology, life cycle, and source of supply.

Perform failure and root‑cause analysis of high‑complexity issues and implement corrective actions.

Provide technical assistance for programs related to material verification, specification or drawing exceptions, supplier issues, and manufacturing related issues.

Support activities associated with part‑shortage resolution, obsolescence management, source selection, data collection, and overall data analysis.

Actively contribute to and participate in projects as a team member or expert on call.

Lead complex projects to solve team or department‑level issues or process improvements.

Teach and mentor less experienced engineers on the team.

Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience.

U.S. citizenship required.

8+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings and electrical vendor data sheets.

8+ years of experience working with electrical component obsolescence and product change notifications (PCNs).

Qualifications We Prefer:

5+ years with Silicon Expert or Accuris (IHS) industry toolsets.

Strong problem‑solving skills and confidence in communicating with diverse stakeholders.

Demonstrated customer‑service experience and ability to work with both technical and non‑technical individuals and leaders.

Understanding and following processes for component management and related procedures.

Location & Compensation Building 01, Windsor Locks, One Hamilton Road, Windsor Locks, CT 06096, USA.

Salary range: $124,000 – $250,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
