Job Description:
Inspector I
Code Enforcement Division Come work as an Inspector I in a collegiate town that offers great benefits. The City of Dover is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Inspector I in the Code Enforcement division. The primary duties of this position are to perform property maintenance inspections for code compliance.
Job Responsibilities
Conducting housing inspections
Performing exterior property inspections
Responding to citizen complaints
Working with property owners to achieve compliance
Following up on licenses and permits
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Possess an International Property Maintenance Code and/or International Residential Code Certification (or be able to obtain such certifications within 12 months of employment).
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Equivalent of one (1) year of college or specialized vocational training in criminal justice, law enforcement, construction, or a closely related field in code compliance is preferred
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
A criminal background investigation and driving record review will be required. Candidates may be given a job‑related test during the interview.
