Job Title: Motor Equipment Operator I - Sanitation

Salary range: DOE Labor Grade 17 / $19.28 Per Hours

Department: Public Works

Hours: Full-Time

Job Description:

The City of Dover is currently seeking applicants for the position of Motor Equipment Operator I in the Sanitation Division of Public Works Department. The primary duties of this position is to perform labor in support of City operations within the Sanitation Division, which involve a variety of semi-skilled tasks associated with the collection and transportation of municipal solid waste.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate motor equipment to transport materials, tools, equipment, or personnel to job sites, load or haul dirt, or pick up debris from job sites.
• Operate equipment such as trash/refuse pick up, snow removal, or other specialized operations.
• Complete job-related logs and forms.
• Overtime is required as needed.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy work lifting up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of six (6) months of related experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL permit within two (2) months and CDL license within six (6) months is required.
• Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical associated with the CDL.

A criminal background investigation and driving record review will be required. Candidates may be given a job-related test during the interview.
