Waste Sector Business Development Director
Lead HDR’s solid waste sector business development, client engagement, and strategic growth across a dynamic waste landscape. This role is a key strategic leadership position that drives market share and revenue growth globally while shaping HDR’s future in resource management.

What You’ll Do
Lead strategic growth: Drive HDR’s market share and revenue growth globally.
Build client relationships: Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients and align HDR’s capabilities to meet their needs.
Drive business development: Lead major pursuits and campaigns, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts.
Shape market strategy: Collaborate with market and operations leadership to define and support regional strategic plans.
Mentor and train: Support the development of business development skills across teams, fostering a culture of client focus and strategic thinking.
Align resources: Ensure the right talent and expertise are matched to client needs and growth opportunities in collaboration with operational partners. Help attract great people.

Achieve global booking goals for the Waste sector.
Manage regional waste business development leaders.
Maintain a strong understanding of waste market trends and drivers.
Work with Waste Sector Director to create vision for the program.
Oversee annual and long‑term strategic plans, including growth initiatives and investment prioritization.
Develop cross‑market strategic initiatives and capture planning.
Identify and fill management, technical, and marketing positions.
Develop training on business development and marketing best practices.
Implement major client plans and capture market share.
Serve as client manager for significant waste sector accounts.
Build relationships with teaming partners.
Participate in professional associations to elevate HDR’s brand.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Professional or engineering registration/certificate or related technical experience.
Demonstrated experience winning high‑value contracts in the waste industry.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 15 years relevant industry experience.
Self‑starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
Deep knowledge of A/E/C industry procurement of professional services.
Ability to motivate and inspire others.
Network building with clients and industry partners.
Experience in sales and effective win strategies.
Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to travel and engage in‑person.
Experience growing programs in new or highly competitive markets.
Experience winning high‑value contracts in A/E/C industry.
Ability to write compelling content from technical staff information.
Location and Compensation Primary location: Omaha, Neb., USA. Other locations available in U.S. (list omitted for brevity). Target salary range: $167,580 – $277,200. Full‑time, regular employee status.
