Waste Sector Business Development Director Work with HDR

as the Waste Sector Business Development Director. The role seeks a strategic leader to spearhead client engagement, business development, and strategic growth across a dynamic solid waste landscape.

What You’ll Do:

Lead strategic growth: Drive HDR’s market share and revenue growth globally.

Build client relationships: Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, aligning HDR’s capabilities to meet their needs.

Drive business development: Lead major pursuits and campaigns, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts that reflect deep client insight.

Shape market strategy: Collaborate with market and operations leadership to define and support regional strategic plans.

Mentor and train: Support the maturation of business development skills across teams, fostering a culture of client focus and strategic thinking.

Align resources: Ensure the right talent and expertise are matched to client needs and growth opportunities.

What You Bring (roles and responsibilities):

Achieve global booking goals for the Waste Sector.

Manage regional waste business development leaders.

Maintain a strong understanding of waste market trends.

Work with the Waste Sector Director to create a vision and manage strategic plans.

Develop and drive cross-market strategic initiatives in the RBG.

Lead major pursuit teams in creating and implementing effective win strategies.

Identify candidates for management, technical, business development and marketing positions.

Develop training on business development and marketing best practices.

Implement major client plans and long‑term strategies to capture market share.

Serve as Client Manager for significant waste sector clients.

Develop business relationships with teaming partners.

Actively participate in professional associations to elevate HDR’s brand.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Professional or engineering registration or related technical experience.

Experience winning high-value contracts in the waste industry.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.

Self‑starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.

Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s approach to procurement of professional services.

Ability to motivate and inspire others.

Experience building a network of clients and industry partners.

Sales and effective win‑strategy development experience.

Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Willingness and ability to travel and engage in person.

Experience growing programs in new or highly competitive markets.

Prior experience winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry.

Experience writing compelling content for technical staff.

Benefits:

The targeted salary range is $167,580 – $277,200.
