Join HDR as a Waste Sector Business Development Director to lead client engagement, business development, and strategic growth across the solid waste landscape. This role involves collaborating with clients, shaping market strategy, and driving revenue globally.
What You’ll Do
Lead Strategic Growth: Drive HDR’s market share and revenue growth globally.
Build Client Relationships: Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, aligning HDR’s capabilities to meet their needs.
Drive Business Development: Lead major pursuits, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts.
Shape Market Strategy: Collaborate with market and operations leadership to define regional strategic plans.
Mentor and Train: Support growth of business development skills across teams.
Align Resources: Ensure the right talent and expertise match client needs and growth opportunities.
What You Bring (Roles and Responsibilities)
Achieve global booking goals for the Waste Sector.
Manage regional Waste business development leaders.
Maintain strong understanding of waste market trends.
Work with the Waste Sector Director to create the program vision.
Oversee annual and long-term strategic plans, prioritize initiatives.
Develop cross-market strategic initiatives in the RBG.
Lead major pursuit teams.
Identify candidates to fill management, technical, business development positions.
Develop training on business development and marketing best practices.
Implement major client plans and long-term strategies.
Serve as Client Manager for key accounts.
Develop relationships with teaming partners.
Participate in professional associations to elevate HDR’s brand.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Professional or engineering registration, certificate, or related technical experience.
Experience in winning high-value contracts in the waste industry.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 15 years relevant industry experience.
Self‑starter, completes projects with limited oversight.
Deep knowledge of A/E/C procurement of professional services.
Ability to motivate and inspire others.
Build network of clients and industry partners.
Sales experience and effective win strategies.
Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Travel and in‑person engagement willingness.
Experience growing programs in new competitive markets.
Experience winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
Experience writing compelling content from technical staff.
