HDR, an employee‑owned engineering and consulting firm, invites applications for the Waste Sector Business Development Director role to spearhead client engagement, business development, and strategic growth across the solid waste landscape. What You’ll Do

Lead strategic growth: drive market share and revenue growth globally. Build client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor to key clients. Lead major pursuits and campaigns, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts. Shape market strategy in collaboration with market and operations leadership. Mentor and train teams, fostering a culture of client focus and strategic thinking. Align resources and collaborate with operational partners to match talent to client needs. Responsibilities (Waste Sector)

Achieve global booking goals for the Waste Sector. Manage regional Waste business leaders. Maintain a strong understanding of market trends and drivers. Work with the Waste Sector Director to create a vision for the Waste program within company direction. Oversee annual and long‑term strategic plans, including growth initiatives and investments. Develop and drive cross‑market strategic initiatives within the region. Lead major pursuit teams in creating and implementing effective win strategies. Identify candidates to fill management, technical, business development and marketing positions. Develop training on best practices in coordination with regional business developers. Develop and implement major client plans with long‑term market share capture. Serve as a Client Manager for significant Waste sector accounts, maintaining strong relationships and deep understanding of client trends. Develop business relationships with teaming partners. Actively participate in professional associations to elevate the HDR brand. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Maintain a professional or engineering registration or certificate or have related technical experience. Demonstrated experience in winning high‑value contracts in the Waste industry. Required Qualifications

A minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience. Demonstrated "self‑starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight. Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s standard approach to procurement of professional services. Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others. Demonstrated ability to build a network of clients and industry partners. Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies. Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in person. Demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets. Demonstrated experience in winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry. Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff. Compensation

Target salary range: $167,580 – $277,200. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, short‑ and long‑term disability, life insurance, EAP, paid time off, parental leave, retirement plan with employer match, referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement. Primary Location
