FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors can earn a predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. While experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

Introduction Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years. We contract with inspectors at the county level, meaning you would be responsible for completing all inspections in your county. In some cases, you may split the county with another inspector if volume requires two inspectors.

Occupancy Verification Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The property inspection's purpose is to verify property occupancy and report the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

Responsibilities

Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.

Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.

Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.

Complete a short form in an app.

Be able to spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

Typical inspections take 5-6 minutes.

Requirements

Computer with an internet connection.

Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).

Smartphone (Android or iPhone).

Printer.

Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of

$30-$40 per hour . Depending on county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections per month working 2-30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
