FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to report on property occupancy and general condition. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. Inspectors are contracted at a county level; you would be responsible for completing all inspections in your county or splitting the county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
Responsibilities
Perform the most common type of inspection, which should only take 5–6 minutes.
Complete each inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be able to spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour .
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
