FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, invites applications for the Mortgage Field Services Inspector position.
Overview FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years and seeks highly motivated independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and assess the general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% may require interior photos after a property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections, which typically take 5–6 minutes.
Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Drive extended periods while making frequent stops within the assigned county territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. The average compensation is roughly
$30‑$40 per hour . Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. There is no set monthly inspection quota, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earnings increase with experience, greater availability, and covering larger territories.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
