Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

Verify property occupancy.
Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
In most counties the inspector is responsible for all inspections in that county, and may split the county with another inspector if volume requires it.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5-6 minutes.
Finish the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile app.
Spend extended periods driving, making multiple stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements (must have)
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. While you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.
In a given county you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. The work is consistent month to month, and you can earn more by becoming established, increasing availability, or covering a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
