Administrative Manager – Research Pulmonary & Critical Care Join Brigham and Women's Hospital as an Administrative Manager in the Pulmonary & Critical Care division. The role is based at 60 Fenwood Road with a hybrid (office + remote) schedule, Day shift.

Pay Range:

$97,510.40 – $141,804.00 annual.

Overview The Administrative Manager for Research (AMR) is part of the division management team and coordinates PCCM Division’s research activities, working with the MGH Department of Medicine, Research Management, and PCCM Division members, as well as internal and external collaborators, including investigators, institutions, and sponsors. Responsibilities include financial and personnel management, ensuring continuity and integrity of research efforts, and facilitating administrative requirements of research activities. Scope: direct and indirect management of >50 FTEs and fiscal responsibility for a research portfolio of ~$40M in annual direct costs.

Essential Functions

Manage multiple proposals concurrently, adhering to sponsor, institutional, and departmental guidelines.

Assume financial control of assigned departments and review funding expenditures.

Monitor cost allowability, administrative reasonableness, award applicability, and funding availability.

Prepare forecast reports to PIs and senior leaders on an ad‑hoc and periodic basis.

Collaborate with the Research Finance Coordinator to process contracts, orders, and payments.

Manage finance team: training, coaching, performance assessment, and directing daily work.

Assist with the submission process – create budgets and upload to Insight records.

Create billing agreements, clinical trial and industry basic science records.

Requirements Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Business Administration required; Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred. No substitute for experience.

Experience:

2–3 years grant management or finance required; 3–5 years grant administration or finance required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Word.

Good understanding of research agency funding guidelines and policies.

High accuracy when handling large amounts of financial data.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Initiative and independent problem solving.

Excellent organization and ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple priorities.
