Job Summary This Nurse Practitioner (NP) will collaborate with attending hospitalists on the Hospital Medicine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. The role involves direct patient care from admission to discharge, managing an average of six patients per NP, and providing cross‑coverage for general inpatient and subspecialty services.
Essential Functions
Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting
Performs complete histories and physical examinations
Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings
Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries
Performs bedside procedures as appropriate for the patient population
Orders medications and writes prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
Qualifications Education
Master's Degree in Nursing required.
Licenses and Credentials
Registered Nurse (MA) and Nurse Practitioner (MA) licenses in good standing.
MCSR and DEA licenses qualified; BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Experience
0–1 year of NP experience preferred; applicants with general inpatient or ICU experience highly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years NP experience required; other NP experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Additional Job Details Remote Type : Onsite
Work Location : 55 Fruit Street
Pay Range : $120,390.40 – $170,456.00 per year
Grade : 7
