We seek a highly skilled person to join our Burns and Wound Service to provide clinical care, participate in education, support research, and help maintain ABA/ACS Verified Burn Center requirements.
Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for clinical assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with thermal injuries and wounds. The role is primarily inpatient‑based with occasional outpatient coverage, working closely with the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily evaluations of burns of varying depth.
Perform debridement, dressing changes, and other wound‑care interventions.
Assess skin graft take after removal of primary dressing.
Collaborate closely with the multi‑disciplinary team.
Serve as a clinical resource to residents and nursing staff.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, morbidity and mortality conference, weekly team meetings and quality‑improvement projects.
Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to the patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
Perform complete histories and physical examinations.
Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develop appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
Document consistently, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
Perform bedside procedures as appropriate.
Order medications and write prescriptions in accordance with policy and regulation.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; 2 years preferred, including at least 1 year ICU experience.
Master’s degree in Nursing or related field required.
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Current DEA license for NP.
Strong history‑taking, clinical assessment, and communication skills.
Ability to maintain quality‑control standards and to handle emergency situations calmly.
Ability to adapt and apply institutional guidelines and procedures.
