Job Title EEG Specialist (TH Clinical Technical Services)

Position Summary As an EEG Specialist at Stony Brook Medicine, you will provide high‑quality clinical services to our patient population, delivering patient‑care support while maintaining the highest standard of excellence. You will work collaboratively with medical staff and technologists to acquire and improve EMG/NCV and/or EP skills, and support seizure‑surgery patients.

Responsibilities

Perform routine, portable, and continuous electroencephalograms (EEGs).

Conduct long‑term video‑EEG monitoring, including patient setup, review, and editing of EEG data.

Provide other electro‑neurodiagnostic examinations as required.

Maintain and inventory laboratory equipment and supplies.

Help maintain laboratory and patient records, including departmental databases.

Archive patient data to DVD or other media.

Assist technologists with continuing education and online training.

Work with medical staff and technologists to acquire and improve EMG/NCV and/or EP skills.

Understand recording components for seizure‑surgery patients, including grid and depth electrodes and appropriate montage design, and assist in data analysis.

Qualifications Required:

High School Diploma or GED.

1 year or more performing EEGs.

Graduation from an EEG training program or completion of an acceptable EEG module.

Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as an EEG technician, including pediatric and neonatal experience.

Preferred:

Academic and/or clinical experience in EEG, EMG/NCV, and/or Evoked Potentials.

Experience with epilepsy monitoring equipment and unit.

Registration with the American Board of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET) or R.EEG T credential.

Compensation Salary range: $57,151 – $66,961 base. Additional annual supplemental pay may include location pay ($4,000) and shift differential ($575). SBUH provides generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
