Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc., a Kajima company, is a Hawaii-based company with roots dating back to 1902 when Walter Dillingham obtained a contract to dredge a channel into Pearl Harbor. BUILDING DIVISION - MAUI - CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER

JOB OVERVIEW The Construction Engineer role involves comprehensive training across multiple areas of construction, including but not limited to Cost Engineering, Project Engineering, Estimating, Pre-Construction, and BIM. After completing this training, Construction Engineers may be assigned to one of the following areas: Cost Engineering, Project Engineering, Pre-Construction/Estimating, BIM, or Assistant Superintendent. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, able to manage diverse tasks, and proficient in prioritizing responsibilities effectively.
As a Construction Engineer in the Building Division, you will be trained and assigned on the island of Maui.Frequent travel to Maui for project-related work may also be necessary for candidates residing on other islands.
The Building Division continues to partner with owners and developers to produce retail spaces, luxury high-rises and condominiums. Specializing in vertical and large commercial/residential structures. The Building division has created many of Hawaii’s iconic structures.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Project Engineers by developing and maintaining as-built drawings and assisting with submittals, change orders, payment requests, RFIs, and other related tasks.
Perform Cost Engineering duties including quantity tracking, timesheet management, cost reporting, forecasting, and tracking material and equipment logs. Assist in calculating production rates and conducting studies for self-performed work.
Manage documentation and submittals for LEED Certification, as well as creating and updating Digital Record Drawings.
Assist with Quality Control, Safety procedures, and coordination/oversight of subcontractors.
Provide support to Superintendents in the execution of construction tasks and assist in resolving field-related issues as needed.
Contribute to project scheduling and monitor monthly progress.
Assist in material take-offs, subcontractor quote solicitation, bid comparisons, and other related duties.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Blue Beam and Primavera P6 is a plus.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications for construction projects.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
