Site Safety Supervisor for General Contractor

The Site Safety Supervisor plans, implements, and supervises site-specific project safety and COVID-19 programs in compliance with corporate safety program standards often under the direction of a Safety Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensuring the company’s Safety Program is followed and ensuring Subcontractors follow their company safety programs.
Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA requirements. Identify and control hazardous working conditions and at-risk employee activities through safety management and contacting supervisory personnel.
Supervise and administer safety/first aid and rescue activities including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing, training, etc.
Assist corporate program by developing site-specific employee and craft safety orientation training and implement upon completion.
Conduct jobsite safety and COVID inspections and property damage and personal injury investigations. Implement appropriate preventive and corrective action.
Document all incidents including injuries, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities.
Issue confined area entry and "hot work" permits as required.
Review documentation to ensure all required manuals, records, and reports are current, complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
Accompany all safety, health and insurance inspectors on jobsite walks. Complete requested documents. Coordinate/assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.
Assist as needed with Matter of Respect training and documentation and investigation of Matter of Respect issues.
Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Four‑year occupational safety/health degree preferred, but will consider equivalent combinations of training and related experience, including:
0-2 years construction and/or industrial safety experience
CHST (or STSC and willingness to gain experience necessary to sit for the CHST exam)
Thorough understanding of and ability to implement and administer all federal, state, local, and company regulations
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement practical corrective measures compliant with regulatory standards
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills/ability to work in a team‑based environment
