Data Center Network Operations Technician Soluna is on a mission to solve one of renewable energy’s biggest challenges: wasted power. Our data centers

convert excess

solar, hydro, and wind

energy into productive computational work , such as Bitcoin mining, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. By co-locating with renewable power sources, we bring demand directly to the source,

helping power plants increase revenue while contributing more megawatts to the grid.

Every year, more than 225 terawatt-hours of renewable energy are “spilled” globally—clean power that goes unused. Soluna solves this by building small-footprint, modular data centers co-located with renewable power plants. These data centers run high-performance computing (HPC) applications such as AI, machine learning, cryptocurrency mining, scientific computing, and video processing, turning wasted energy into profitable, sustainable work.

By doing so, we help power producers sell every megawatt they generate, and enable the world’s data scientists and innovators to compute sustainably.

We are looking for a

Data Center Network Operations Technician

to join our world-class team.

As the

Data Center Network Operations Tech , you are the on-site owner of all network connectivity at Soluna’s Project Dorothy data centers. As a member of the Operations team, you ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of the site’s network infrastructure while providing hands‑on support to the centralized Network Engineering team.

You’ll manage network-related operational workflows, perform on‑site troubleshooting, coordinate deployments, and ensure that all connectivity and structured cabling meet Soluna’s standards for uptime, resiliency, and security.

This role blends technical expertise with operational discipline—you will be the go-to operations expert for network health, uptime, and physical infrastructure support.

You Will:

Serve as the on-site lead responsible for all network connectivity, physical infrastructure, and structured cabling.

Perform hands‑on installation, testing, and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless equipment, and monitoring devices.

Execute network turn‑ups, port provisioning, VLAN assignments, and cabling layouts based on engineering specifications.

Maintain consistent, high‑quality cable management standards across the site (fiber, copper, patching, labeling).

Conduct first‑line and advanced diagnostics for network performance issues, connectivity failures, and physical link problems.

Triage network incidents and elevate efficiently to remote Network Engineers with clear documentation, logs, and findings.

Support failure isolation across network, compute, and facility systems to ensure rapid restoration of service.

Partner with Ops leadership to plan and execute network expansions, equipment migrations, and rack‑level installations.

Ensure accurate rack layouts, structured cabling diagrams, inventory, and power/cooling considerations for network equipment.

Coordinate vendor activities (ISP installs, fiber pulls, cross‑connects, etc.) and oversee on‑site work to ensure compliance.

Maintain detailed records of network assets, IP assignments, patching maps, and connection diagrams.

Contribute to incident reports, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Act as the bridge between Site Operations and the Network Engineering team.

Work with Operations teammates on commissioning, deployment, and capacity planning efforts.

Support engineering with on‑site data collection, audits, and validation for network‑related projects.

What You Need to Get the Job Done:

Hands‑on experience supporting or operating network infrastructure in a data center, telecom, or similar environment.

Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing/switching basics).

Experience with physical network installation: fiber/copper termination, patching, cable management, rack layout.

Familiarity with network monitoring and ticketing tools (Grafana, NetBox, Odoo, etc.).

Bonus: experience with structured cabling standards, cross‑connects, or ISP/co‑lo deployments.

Excellent troubleshooting instincts with a calm, methodical approach to incident response.

Strong documentation discipline and ability to follow and improve SOPs.

Ability to work independently on‑site and coordinate effectively with remote teams.

Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.

Willingness to work non‑standard hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays as part of a shift schedule.

Preferred but not required experience includes:

Prior experience in cryptocurrency mining, HPC, or hyperscale data center environments.

Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, BICSI, or other cabling/network infrastructure credentials.

Familiarity with electrical distribution, airflow, and facility systems is helpful though not required.
