Nursing Clinical Coordinator - Orthopedics Position Summary The Nursing Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinical activities, ensuring high-quality patient care, and supporting the orthopedic staff in their clinical practices. The role is focused on ensuring the provision of patient care is consistent with department/hospital and regulatory standards. Primary responsibilities include ensuring adherence to Joint Commission policies and protocols, fostering a collaborative environment among healthcare teams, assisting members of the clinical care team with all duties as necessary, and acting as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to promote effective communication and teamwork. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by the Chief APP of the department and Director of Operations.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

Assists PM&R provider in clinic and with patient phone calls/paperwork

Manages and routes in-basket messages for the APP team.

Provides pre-appointment or pre-surgical instructions as needed.

Responsible for post-operative patient phone calls

Assist with triaging clinical calls for the Call Center staff.

Assists members of clinical support staff and physicians with all duties as necessary and appropriate. (Includes patient care, post‑op phone follow‑up calls and other patient phone calls, and medication updates).

Updates/enters patient medical information within the EMR, chart updates, and records vitals per physician request and/or practice standards.

Helps collect any X‑Rays, MRIs, CTs, and various studies pertaining to the patient’s exam and prior to the clinic visit.

In conjunction with the lead Ortho tech, maintains/orders consistent room stocking inventory.

Serves as clinical support during any direct patient admission as well as all stretcher, car chair and/or correction facilities patients.

Fit, dress, and obtain durable medical equipment (DME) as directed by physician.

Orders all pharmacy supplies for the clinic

Maintains all internal equipment protocols

Maintains clinic Joint Commission protocols and oversees the details related to Joint Commission visit preparations.

Coordinates medical equipment purchase orders

Performs suture removals and DME coordination as directed/needed by the physician

Maintains all special order equipment

Maintains each faculty member’s internal medical protocols books set in the office.

Maintains the internal department X‑ray guidelines protocol and works with physicians and APP team to update as needed.

Manages stocking, upkeep, and compliance of medication rooms.

In conjunction with the lead Ortho Tech responsible for overseeing patient flow to ensure throughput efficiency.

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required Current Massachusetts RN license

Experience Minimum of three to five years of clinical experience in Orthopedic Surgery arena preferred

Knowledge And Skills Work requires analytical abilities necessary to organize, supervise and evaluate the work of others and in addition, the ability to develop, interpret, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures and standards. Work requires physical ability to perform the core job responsibilities in accordance with practice setting demands of the orthopedic population.

Compensation Range $58,000.00- $84,000.00. This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licenses as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market‑competitiveness.
