FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to perform them. The purpose of the property inspection is to:
Verify property occupancy.
Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
County Responsibilities We contract with inspectors at a county level; you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county. In some cases you may share a county with another inspector if volume requires.
Responsibilities
Complete an inspection within 5-6 minutes.
Submit the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Drive extensive periods making multiple stops throughout the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Payments are equivalent to roughly $30-$40 per hour.
Depending on county and urban/rural status, you can complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections per month working 2-30 hours per week. No set minimum; volume is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, availability, or cover larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
