Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
Most inspections are exterior‑only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. You will be responsible for all inspections in your county, and may share the county with another inspector if volume allows.
Responsibilities:
Most common type of inspection should only take 5‑6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile application.
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements:
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours:
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month.
You can earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
