Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to conduct residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The position is based in Reno, NV; FAR Inspections has over 9 years in business.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors for periodic investigations. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy, report on the general condition using a mobile application, and produce photos of the property.
Responsibilities
Inspections typically take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Drive extended periods with frequent stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus as you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of
$30-$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and rural/urban location, you can complete 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties pay higher rates; higher‑volume counties pay lower rates. No set month‑to‑month minimum of inspections. You can earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory. There is no mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
