Program Director, Feeding Our Neighbors (FON) Position Summary:

The Program Director provides administrative and programmatic leadership for the Catholic Charities Feeding Our Neighbor’s Program (FON), a well‑established Emergency Food Services program that has been meeting food insecurity needs of vulnerable New Yorkers for over 40 years.

Location:

Bronx Center—402 East 152nd Street, Bronx, NY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee day‑to‑day operations of 38+ pantry hubs and program hub.

Provide guidance for SNAP program and case‑management services.

Oversee warehousing, distribution, ordering, logistics, quality & inventory control.

Develop & implement operational protocols to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Directly supervise FON Management Team.

Recruit, train, and supervise staff & volunteers.

Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet community needs.

Foster inclusive work environment emphasizing teamwork and service excellence.

Manage program budget ≈ $5 M and oversee quarterly expenditures.

Assist in preparing funding applications & reporting requirements.

Track data collection, contract deliverables & annual metrics.

Identify unmet needs areas & organize parish initiatives; develop training workshops.

Advocate for underserved populations & equitable access to resources.

Maintain working knowledge of hunger & nutrition legislative activity.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in social services, non‑profit management or related field.

Minimum 3 years experience in food‑related inventory management & logistics.

Minimum 5 years in a management role; proven ability to manage staff in a high‑volume environment.

Familiarity with state & local health requirements for food handling.

Experience with budget & grants management.

Strong organizational, communication & time‑management skills.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written & public‑relations skills.

Computer proficiency: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Salary Range:

$85,000 – $90,000

Position Type & Hours:

Full‑time exempt; 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Mon‑Fri; additional hours may be required.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Conduct site visits & outreach ≈ 50% of time; use public transportation or traverse city streets; occasionally ascend/descend stairs; exposed to outside weather.

Ability to work with public & client population in underserved communities.

Participate in special events, meetings, forums etc. ≈ 25% of time.
