Oklahoma Heart Institute offers 24/7 catheterization labs, cardiac rehabilitation, and a heart failure center. OHI is involved in over 200 cutting‑edge research studies across a wide range of specialties within the system.
Responsibilities The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic‑based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Support patient visits: greeting patients, escorting patients to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and gathering medical information to support the reason for the visit and recommended treatment.
Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; ensure exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for patients; provide privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
Maintain inventory control paperwork and review orders for completeness.
Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations; call pharmacies, hospitals, and labs to pass along patient information for prescriptions, x‑rays, or lab requisitions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic EMR and Microsoft Office knowledge.
BLS certification required within 14 days of start.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree.
Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or three years of MA experience.
Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
For OHI clinics, EMT/Paramedics meet qualifications for hire.
