Oklahoma Heart Institute offers 24/7 catheterization labs, cardiac rehabilitation and a heart failure center. In addition, OHI is involved in over 200 cutting‑edge research studies across the vast amount of specialties within the system.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic‑based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.

Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Provide patient visit support, including greeting patients, escorting them to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and gathering applicable medical information to support the reason for the visit and recommended treatment.

Sterilize and prepare medical instruments. Ensure exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.

Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.

Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.

Address and request referrals and insurance authorizations; pass along patient information for prescription, X‑ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties, including calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.

BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Associate’s degree.

Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or three years of MA experience.

Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

For OHI clinics, EMT/Paramedics meet qualifications for hire.
