Position Summary
In partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI), the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, Section of General & Preventive Cardiology seeks an academic non‑invasive general cardiologist for a full‑time faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. Candidates with expertise in hypertension management, vascular disease, or sports cardiology are encouraged, as the role will lead a resistant hypertension program or a medical vascular program. The appointment includes attending staff privileges at TGH and affiliated hospitals and requires a strong commitment to teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor, normally have produced creative work, professional writing, or research published in peer‑reviewed journals and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Expertise in hypertension management or vascular disease to lead a resistant hypertension program or a medical vascular program.
Candidates with expertise in sports cardiology are encouraged to apply.
MUST BE BOARD CERTIFIED/ELIGIBLE IN: General Cardiology
Working at USF .
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent. The candidate will need to obtain and maintain such a license, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals where clinical duties are performed.
The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience with students/residents, experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices, and/or clinical research/scholarship experience.
Level II certification in Echocardiography is preferred.
Experience and expertise in adult non‑invasive assessment of heart disease, including surface echo, trans‑esophageal echocardiography, stress echo, and adult congenital heart disease.
Experience with exercise testing, ECG interpretation, consulting, and attending in a coronary intensive care unit or similar environment.
Two years of experience in Non‑Invasive Cardiology preferred.
Responsibilities
Participate in inpatient general cardiology consult service, non‑invasive call & coverage, reading EKGs and stress tests.
Provide opportunity to participate in Echo Lab and call & coverage for trans‑esophageal echocardiography, stress tests, and echo reads (if certified from a nationally accredited organization).
Participate in outpatient clinics for USF Health and diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Perform patient exams, order or conduct diagnostic testing, develop treatment and disease‑management plans, and prescribe medication as needed.
Conduct early detection screenings, maintain accurate patient records and charts, and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and administration.
Participate in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and graduate students, residents, and post‑doctoral fellows.
Engage in research, service, and related administrative activities as expected of faculty.
Serve under a Chair or other appropriate higher‑level administrator of a state university.
