The Role Freedom Source, a subsidiary of Suffolk, is seeking a highly organized, entrepreneurial, and strategic Regional Procurement Leader to oversee the direct sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment, and services across construction projects in multiple market sectors. This internal sales and operations-focused role requires strong collaboration with construction project teams, field operations, and pre‑construction groups to support successful project delivery. The Regional Procurement Leader will serve as the key liaison between Freedom Source and Suffolk’s operations teams, building relationships, identifying opportunities, and ensuring our procurement strategy adds measurable value to every project.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
Lead and manage regional procurement activities, overseeing the sourcing and purchasing of materials, equipment, and services for active construction projects.
Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Conduct market research and cost analysis to ensure competitive pricing and availability of critical materials.
Review and validate vendor quotes, contractor bids, and bills of materials for completeness, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Lead negotiations with vendors and suppliers to secure optimal pricing and delivery terms.
Solicit bids, develop and finalize bid tabs, define and confirm the full scope of work, assemble the PO package, and draft the award letter for execution.
Approve and monitor invoices and purchase orders to ensure they align with contracts and budgets.
Operations & Project Execution
Coordinate closely with engineering, fabrication partners, and logistics teams to support the technical review, manufacturing, and delivery of procured equipment.
Oversee procurement operations for MEP equipment and materials, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to project requirements.
Travel regionally to support project teams, suppliers, and leadership engagements, including factory visits, vendor evaluations, and site inspections as needed.
Sales & Business Development
Develop and implement procurement and internal sales strategies to maximize efficiency, profitability, and alignment with company objectives.
Support front‑end sales efforts, including sales strategy development, opportunity forecasting, and contribution to sales projections for both regional and companywide planning.
Identify and pursue new procurement and revenue opportunities to support the continued growth of Freedom Source.
Preconstruction & Budgeting
Serve as a strategic business partner to Suffolk’s operations and preconstruction teams, aligning procurement efforts with project goals and schedules.
Support preconstruction budgeting efforts by providing material and equipment pricing, procurement strategies, and cost‑informed guidance during early project development.
Leadership & Reporting
Manage and mentor regional procurement staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide regular updates and reporting on procurement performance, supplier metrics, and cost savings to senior leadership.
Collaborate closely with the Freedom Source leadership team to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
10‑15 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the construction industry or a closely related field.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
Proven track record in establishing, scaling, or optimizing a procurement function, particularly within a startup or high‑growth environment.
Demonstrated experience working directly with construction operations and project teams, with a deep understanding of MEP systems and equipment, materials, and field execution.
Strong knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing and engineering principles, as well as familiarity with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and cost control procedures.
Advanced expertise in negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship development, with a focus on long‑term value creation and partnership building.
Deep understanding of supply chain and procurement best practices specific to construction materials, equipment, and services.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
High proficiency in procurement and ERP systems, along with strong computer and reporting skills (Microsoft Office Suite and related platforms).
