FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders in Reno, NV.
Overview Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify occupancy and report on general property condition using a mobile application.
Verify property occupancy.
Report general condition of the property via a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods of driving in the assigned territory.
Most common type of inspection should only take 5‑6 minutes.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay for gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Though paid per inspection, you can expect an equivalent earning of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county, you may conduct 20‑500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
