As the executive leading our worldwide engineering organization, you will drive innovation across hardware, embedded systems, optics, perception, AI pipelines, and cloud integration. This role is central to SoftEye’s mission to deliver seamless, human‑centered AR experiences at scale.
If you have deep experience building and shipping complex AR, XR, AI‑enabled devices, or advanced hardware software systems, we would love to connect.
Base pay range $250,000/year – $300,000/year
Key Responsibilities
Own the company‑wide engineering strategy and multi‑year AR system architecture for hardware, embedded systems, perception, system software, AI and ML pipelines, and cloud integration.
Drive innovation in optics, sensor fusion, real‑time vision processing, and device‑level performance to enable seamless AR user experiences.
Establish engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, reliability frameworks, and system validation processes.
Partner with Product to define and refine technical roadmaps that reflect user needs, customer feedback, and market requirements.
Translate enterprise and customer insights into engineering priorities that directly improve usability, performance, and overall experience quality.
Lead customer‑facing technical sessions including beta programs, onboarding, deployment guidance, and post‑launch support for key accounts.
Build feedback mechanisms using real‑world usage data to guide device tuning, UX improvements, and system optimization.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, and executive leadership to align technical capabilities with strategic direction and go‑to‑market initiatives.
Partner with Sales and Customer Success to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges for enterprise and OEM customers.
Support technical evaluations, integration paths, solution framing, customer demos, and industry technical workshops for major customer and partner engagements.
Build, scale, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering organization across multiple international locations, including hardware, embedded, perception, system software, platform, and QA teams.
Develop leaders within the engineering organization and cultivate a culture grounded in user empathy, engineering rigor, and continuous improvement.
Establish operational plans, resource allocation models, and delivery mechanisms that enable predictable execution across hardware and software programs.
Implement engineering metrics and tools that track quality, device performance, reliability, perception accuracy, and user experience metrics that reflect customer satisfaction and usability goals.
Oversee vendor engagement, component evaluation, and build versus buy decisions across sensors, optical components, compute modules, and system technologies.
Qualifications
12+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles across hardware, embedded systems, perception, AI, or system software, with at least 5 years leading multidisciplinary teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s or PhD preferred for AR system integration complexity.
Demonstrated experience delivering complex AR or spatial computing devices, AI‑enabled hardware products, or advanced hardware software platforms involving optics, sensors, compute, and perception.
Deep technical understanding of AR system architecture including optics, displays, sensors, compute, OS layers, embedded systems, perception stacks, and cloud services.
Proven track record shipping multifunction hardware/software systems at scale with responsibility for reliability, performance, and user experience outcomes.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to executive audiences, partners, and cross‑functional teams.
Experience leading engineering teams in fast‑moving environments focused on emerging technologies or frontier devices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and scaling engineering organizations in AR, XR, wearables, robotics, or adjacent domains.
Background in optical systems, near‑eye display technology, SLAM or visual odometry, or edge AI architectures.
Experience collaborating with OEMs, component vendors, and ecosystem partners across sensors, optics, compute, and system software.
Familiarity with developer ecosystems, SDKs, and platform integration models.
Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary range: $250,000 – $300,000 + equity + performance incentives.
The total compensation package may include equity, performance bonuses, long‑term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package.
