Job Summary and Responsibilities This position is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures and/or NIV testing at a technical level not requiring constant supervision, under the general direction of a radiologist and radiology administration. The Sonographer is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for performing diagnostic testing used in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients. Must have completed a formal Sonography course or have completed four years of progressively responsible experience in an ultrasound department (within the last five years). This position requires graduation from high school or its equivalent, completion of annual safety training, and maintenance of required unit specific training.
Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographers (RDMS), RDCS, or RVT in at least one field of specialization (e.g., Echocardiography/Doppler, Abdominal, or OB/Gyn) or eligibility for certification and must achieve certification within one year of eligibility. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Job Requirements
Completed a formal Sonography course or have completed four years of progressively responsible experience in an ultrasound department within the last five years.
Completion of annual safety training. Maintains required unit specific training.
Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographers (RDMS), RDCS, or RVT in at least one field of specialization (e.g., Echocardiography/Doppler, Abdominal, or OB/Gyn). Eligibility for certification and must achieve certification within one year.
Current Basic Life Support for healthcare providers required.
