Accounts Receivable / Customer Service Specialist

Location: Bordentown, NJ (100% Onsite)

Compensation: $65,000–$70,000

Timeline: Ideal start in the New Year with 1–2 months of cross‑training

Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level

Must‑Haves

  • Construction or contractor industry experience (REQUIRED)
  • 2+ years of AR, collections, and/or bookkeeping experience (10+ years highly preferred but open to earlier‑career candidates)
  • Strong communication skills and a personable, customer‑facing demeanor
  • Experience supporting collections, invoicing, and order processing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Sage 300 experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with AIA billing is a plus (not required)
  • Strong tenure – hiring manager does not want job‑hopping

Role Overview

The AR/Customer Service Specialist will manage the full Accounts Receivable process, maintain customer records, and support daily interactions with customers and the internal team. This individual will handle order entry, invoicing, deposits, collections, and serve as an essential partner to the sales and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily AR functions, including invoicing, deposits, and collections
  • Prepare and process sales orders
  • Support the sales team, reviewing orders and assisting with customer inquiries
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Dispatch regarding material availability and deliveries
  • Communicate order updates to customers and resolve issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate customer account records
  • Assist with credit applications and related documentation
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, small‑office environment
  • Dependable, punctual, and proactive
  • Calm, personable, and able to handle occasional challenging customer conversations
