Medix is seeking a dedicated
Behavioral Health Clinician (Social Worker – Non-Licensed)
to support an Adult Residential Program in Ventura County. This is a field-based role serving adults with severe mental illness in locked-placement settings. Position Overview In this role, you will conduct monthly assessments for individuals placed in locked facilities across Southern California—primarily in Los Angeles and Sylmar. You’ll determine readiness to step down to a lower level of care or transition back to Ventura County. This position includes both field work (1–2 days/week) and office-based work in Ventura.
Key Responsibilities Travel to locked placement facilities (primarily LA & Sylmar) using county vehicles Conduct clinical assessments to determine step-down readiness Collaborate with on-site case management teams Provide case management and linkage to community resources (e.g., Social Security, housing support) Manage a caseload of approx. 70 adult clients with severe mental illness (seen once per month) Maintain accurate clinical documentation
Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Business casual dress Field-based 1–2 days/week; remaining days in the Ventura office
Required Qualifications ACSW, AMFT, or APCC Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and clean driving record Comfortable working in locked placement facilities Experience with or strong comfort level supporting individuals with severe mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc.) Willingness to drive regularly to LA/Sylmar
Preferred Qualifications Spanish bilingual (preferred, not required) Previous field-based or community mental health experience
