We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our client's finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of GAAP and a proven ability to support quarterly and annual financial reporting. Experience in financial services or insurance is preferred but not required. This role plays a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Perform general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and applicable regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and provide insights.
Assist with the preparation of management reports, regulatory filings, and other financial disclosures as needed.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Experience in financial services or insurance industries is a plus but not required.
Advanced proficiency with Excel and familiarity with financial systems/ERP platforms.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
