Micro Centers Senior Manager
to oversee planning, implementation and continuous improvement of all activities and operations at the Micro Centers within Legacy and KIPP programs. The role requires direct on‑site presence at each Micro Center minimum two days per week and, in addition to day‑to‑day management, involves ensuring compliance, fostering community engagement and providing classroom coverage as needed.
Salary and Location Base pay: $66,297.00/yr – $81,766.00/yr Location: Chicago, IL
Responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities
Staff Management & Development: supervise, mentor, provide reflective supervision, maintain staffing structure, approve time off, create weekly/monthly scheduling, lead orientation and training.
Program Monitoring & Compliance: manage quarterly/annual eligibility audits, generate and monitor reports on enrollment, attendance, service delivery and meal counts, ensure compliance with staff‑to‑child ratios and licensing requirements, maintain accurate documentation.
Resource Management: oversee program budgets, advocate for resources, assist with procurement and allocation to maintain a well‑equipped, safe environment.
Pedagogical Responsibilities
Program Planning & Curriculum Implementation: lead development and execution of daily, developmentally appropriate programs, analyze assessment data, improve service delivery through mentoring and training.
Classroom Support & Coverage: provide direct classroom coverage, assist teachers, model effective practices, maintain learning environments.
Parent & Family Engagement
Family Engagement and Decision‑Making: engage families in decision‑making, coordinate with the Senior Family Support Specialist.
Regular Communication with Families: conduct regular meetings, provide written updates.
Family‑Center Activities: organize field trips and events aligned with family feedback.
Child & Family Support
Maintaining Accurate Records: collaborate with Family Support Specialist team to keep records up to date.
Eligibility Determinations & Follow‑Up: support families through eligibility processes and follow‑up actions.
Coordinating Family Support Services: connect families to available support services.
Leadership Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy: foster culture of inquiry and continuous improvement.
Communication & Collaboration: build partnerships with KIPP, Legacy, represent the Center at events, provide feedback to leadership.
Community Engagement & Representation: represent Micro Centers to stakeholders, cultivate relationships, promote diversity and inclusion.
Professional Development & Growth: lead by example, seek feedback, participate in professional development.
Program Sustainability & Quality Improvement: lead continuous improvement efforts, involve staff and families in identifying improvement areas.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties assigned.
On‑Site Presence: ensure a minimum of three days per week at each Micro Center.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Early Education/Child Development, Education, or related field; or a degree with at least 36 credits in ECE/Child Development.
Physical Demand: frequent sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 25lbs, physical agility to attend to children’s needs.
Professional Experience: 5–10 years classroom experience, demonstrated leadership abilities, oral and written communication skills, problem‑solving and conflict resolution under pressure.
Summary This role requires an experienced and dynamic leader who balances program management and strategic oversight, provides on‑the‑ground classroom support, and engages staff, families and partners to ensure high‑quality, compliant and responsive programs.
