Job Description Summary The James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking applications for the Digital Dentistry Fellowship with a strong research and academic focus. This is a one-year, full-time fellowship position housed within the Department of Reconstructive and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Job Description This fellowship will provide advanced training in digital dentistry and innovation-driven clinical education. The fellow will gain hands‑on experience with digital workflows, CAD/CAM technologies, and materials used in both fixed and removable prosthodontics. The position also includes a research component involving different technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

Participate in teaching dental students in preclinical restorative dentistry courses.

Support educational and production within the innovation laboratory, utilizing digital workflows in fixed and removable prosthodontics.

Support and conduct research involving innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with research and CAD/CAM.

Required Qualifications

Hold a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree.

Master's degree in operative or restorative dentistry (highly preferred).

In a PhD or post‑doc program (also highly recommended).

Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions (continuous).

Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. unassisted (infrequent).

Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor level to a height of 36 inches, unassisted (infrequent).

Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from a height of 36 inches to the floor level, unassisted (infrequent).

Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted (infrequent).

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (continuous).

Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand (continuous).

Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance (frequent).

Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception (continuous).

Good peripheral vision capabilities (continuous).

Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (continuous).

Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (frequent).
