Position Overview Are you ready to take the next step in your career and make a lasting impact in one of the nation’s top-performing Scouting councils? The Mid-America Council, Scouting America is seeking ambitious and forward-thinking professionals to join us as candidates for the District Director position. This position would serve in the Omaha Metro area.
Responsibilities
Serve as the spokesperson for (2) districts, ensuring Scouting is represented with professionalism and extraordinary customer service in all interactions.
Provide coaching and leadership to professional staff in the district(s), ensuring alignment with the council’s strategic objectives.
Recruit, develop, and support a strong volunteer team to drive district success, fostering a welcoming and mission-driven culture.
Lead efforts to achieve key performance goals, including fundraising, membership growth and retention, volunteer engagement, and program excellence.
Secure financial support to sustain and expand Scouting programs, including special events, community partnerships, and Investment in Character campaigns.
Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with schools, community leaders, and local organizations to strengthen Scouting’s impact.
Maintain a collaborative and high-performance culture, attracting, retaining, and motivating top-tier volunteers and staff.
Adapt to evolving council needs, taking on special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Education
Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (a transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).
Qualifications
Passion for the Scouting mission and principles.
Prior experience in Scouting, with a successful track record.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Proven fundraising success and community organization skills.
Ability to manage staff effectively and oversee district operations.
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
