Job Duties The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine invites applicants who are board‑eligible/board‑certified Addiction Medicine & Psychiatry Physician or Addiction Medicine Physician to apply for 12‑month fixed‑term or tenure‑track appointments at the title/rank of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor.

Clinical responsibilities include:

Providing addiction consult services to ECU Health Medical Center and other contracted sites, delivering comprehensive evidence‑based patient care.

Conducting multisystem biopsychosocial addiction evaluations, reviewing history, diagnostic studies, and comorbid illness.

Assessing co‑occurring conditions and directing treatment, continuation of care, or referral for higher level of care when appropriate.

The selected candidate will collaborate with faculty on clinical research and may initiate projects. Teaching responsibilities include:

Supervising medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals rotating through the clinical facilities served by this position.

Teaching in the didactic series of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship (once established), adult psychiatry residency, adult psychiatry grand rounds, and other affiliated lecture needs.

Salary and academic rank/title (tenure track or fixed term) commensurate with experience. Up to 1.0 FTE.

Position contingent upon availability of funding.

Eligibility & Licensure Life‑time required for licensure in North Carolina, current state and federal prescriptive authority, and valid DATA 2000 waiver to prescribe buprenorphine for addiction treatment.

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited institution, or foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG certification.

Board‑eligible/certified in Addiction specialty (psychiatry or medicine).

Eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina.
