CMK Resources is hiring an
Automation/AI Architect
for our client to lead complex data and system integration initiatives enhanced by AI.
This role is accountable for the technical design and architecture of integrations, automations and AI solutions that enhance their back-office environments. You will own the end-to-end integration designs and be able to draw and defend the full data movement plan from source to target. The role will be the intermediary between development teams, data teams, application owners, and AI/automation services. You ensure the right resources are engaged and that all integration environments remain secure, scalable, and high-functioning.

Responsibilities and Expectations A) Architect Solutions that automate, enhance and/or integrate systems or data (~70% of the role -
The Architect must be able to create technical designs and diagrams and clearly answer the central question: Whats the plan? You should be ready to walk leadership executives through real integrations you have personally architected. The Architect must demonstrate the ability to
plan, diagram, and lead automation design
not just build, but set the vision and enforce standards that drive long-term success. ) Build integration and automation solution designs with Business Analysts, Internal IT, RPA developers, Power Apps teams, and data engineers. Architect integrations across back-office systems such as finance, accounting, sales, purchasing, CRM, and ERP. Define how data moves from System A > transformation/orchestration layer > System B, including mapping, schema decisions, and error handling. Ensure proper use of integration technologies: Ensuring the right tool, technique and/or processes are utilized for long term efficiency (i.e. Azure Functions, APIM, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Power Platform, RPA tools, and native APIs.) Work with AI-enabled components (Azure OpenAI, Copilot, CData Connect AI) where natural-language or LLM features enhance integration or workflow needs. Build a strong understanding of underlying business processes and data requirements. Align designs with technology and architectural standards by collaborating with Technical Architects, Security, and other key stakeholders. Stay engaged through delivery to confirm implementation matches intended architecture. Keep a forward-looking view, recommending tools, patterns, and integration techniques that support companywide automation and AI roadmap.
B) Monitor, Protect, and Improve Integration & Automation Environments (~30% of the role) Partner with Security to ensure integration and automation environments remain secure. Work with Technical Architects to ensure standards compliance and robust solution design. Oversee change control and partner with project teams as solutions move to production. Monitor performance of Azure integration services, API layers, RPA environments, and other supporting technologies. Review service requests and route tasks to the appropriate developers or engineers.
Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree preferred (any discipline) or 15+ years of equivalent experience in software development, Data/Systems Integration or AI Architecture At least 5 years of hands-on system integration experience, including ERP connectivity, application development, data movement, and transformation Proven ability to design/document integrations across finance, accounting, sales, purchasing, CRM, and ERP systems Strong understanding of data concepts: schema design, mapping, transformation logic, governance, reconciliation Extensive experience with RESTful web services and API integration patterns Experience with Azure integration tools: Azure Functions, Logic Apps, APIM, Service Bus, Data Factory, managed identities, secure connectivity Experience with automation platforms such as Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Dataverse) and RPA tools (UiPath, etc.) Hands-on experience with configuration management and build/deployment automation Development experience with one or more: Node.js, PHP, Python, v8js, .NET Experience supporting Agile and Waterfall projects Ability to work across multiple business domains and collaborate effectively Recent hands-on experience (last 23 years) incorporating AI components (Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, Semantic Kernel, CData Connect AI, etc.) into real integration or automation solutions, with clear examples
