Inventory Specialist

Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $20.00/hr.
Responsibilities
Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy.
Support pharmacy inventory management activities such as receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
Champion On‑Shelf Availability and handle receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and all in‑store inventory processes.
Validate and ensure accuracy of planograms.
Review and coordinate the use of reports and system applications that affect front‑end and pharmacy on‑hand balances and pricing.
Execute and maintain front‑end and pharmacy asset‑protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse and vendor overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods including prescription drugs.
Open and close the store in the absence of store management, including system start‑ups, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities.
Customer Experience
Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
Model and share customer‑service best practices with all team members.
Operations
Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders.
Scan all deliveries while the vendor is in the store, including common‑carrier deliveries.
Verify pharmacy shipments are posted and complete or verify postings of all pharmacy warehouse orders, ABC prescription and OTC orders, secondary vendor orders, flu and dropship orders.
Complete On‑Shelf Availability (OSA) end‑to‑end processes including warehouse and direct store delivery.
Manage pharmacy inventory activities, including recalls, vendor returns, salvage returns, and inter‑store pharmacy transfers.
Execute all pricing activities including price changes, markdowns, and regulatory pricing tasks.
Support front‑end and pharmacy ordering, monitor manual orders, and maintain consigned inventory as needed.
Ensure all designated pull & quarantine items are updated and placed in holding areas.
Maintain accurate inventory counts and comply with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
Assist in preparation for physical inventory.
Keep counters and shelves clean and merchandised.
Assist and coach store team on package deliveries and the Pickup Program.
When serving as leader on duty, register all related sales, handle returns, voids, cash drops, and provide change.
Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete any additional activities and tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Attend company‑based trainings and complete all e‑learning modules, including safety training.
Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by state.
Communications
Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members, coaching and developing others with inventory systems.
When on duty, communicate assigned tasks to team members and report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
Basic Qualifications
Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
“Achieving expectations” rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months (internal candidates only).
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi‑task and manage execution.
Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
Previous work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
