Brief Description The Maintenance Manager provides leadership to a team responsible for the maintenance, reliability, and safe operation of all manufacturing equipment, tools, and support systems to support production, quality, and company profitability. The role is accountable for creating a safe work environment, driving a strong preventative maintenance culture, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping across all maintenance activities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality support of all production and facility equipment.
Maintain a safe work environment with emphasis on injury prevention, strong housekeeping, and adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in equipment uptime, maintenance quality, and responsiveness through robust preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime and meet or reduce budgeted material and labor costs.
Ensure accurate completion and retention of maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories within the maintenance management system.
Maintain accurate employee records and conduct timely, fair performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
Build and sustain an educated and versatile maintenance workforce through ongoing technical training, cross-training, and structured discipline programs.
Implement and maintain an organized spare parts and consumables inventory at the lowest practical cost while supporting uninterrupted plant operations.
Partner closely with Production, Safety, Quality, and Engineering to troubleshoot chronic issues, support new equipment installations, and meet customer and operational goals.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable regulatory requirements related to safety, quality, environmental, and product safety.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and engage a maintenance workforce to achieve safety, quality, uptime, and cost objectives.
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment; able to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Solid understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles, CMMS use, and reliability-focused maintenance practices.
Working knowledge of printing and related process/converting equipment (or ability to quickly learn industry-specific machinery).
Proficient with computer systems, including maintenance software, basic data analysis, and standard office applications (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and with outside vendors/contractors.
Qualifications
5+ years of maintenance leadership or management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Proven experience managing and developing a multi‑skilled maintenance team.
Technical background in mechanical and/or electrical systems; relevant technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) or similar reliability and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Experience working within a structured safety and quality management system.
Other Requirements
Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.
Ability to be on‑call as required and respond to production‑critical issues outside of normal working hours.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in and around industrial equipment as needed to support troubleshooting and repairs.
