We are seeking an experienced Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Lead to oversee safety and compliance in our new manufacturing facility project in Hendersonville, TN. This role requires proven expertise in project environments, manufacturing operations, and regulatory compliance. Beyond technical knowledge, we are looking for a leader who can inspire, engage, and sustain a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization and contractors.
Responsibilities
Lead the HSE function for manufacturing. Develop and implement site-specific HSE programs, polices, and procedures covering both construction and operational phases. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA codes, EPA regulations, and local authority requirements. Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits throughout the project lifecycle. Partner with project management, engineering, and contractors to embed safety requirements in CAPEX execution, commissioning, and start-up activities. Lead, coach, and mentor employees and contractors to embed a safety-first mindset and sustainable HSE culture. Design and deliver effective training and engagement programs, ensuring clear understanding of responsibilities and expectations. Drive visible leadership in safety, promoting open communication and trust with the workforce. Lead incident investigations, root causes analysis, and corrective action planning. Monitor contractor safety / performance and enforce accountability. Establish and track HSE KPIs, reporting progress to senior leadership. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (Master preferred). Minimum 8+ years of HSE experience in manufacturing, construction, or large-scale industrial projects. Proven track record in project environments. Strong working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA codes, with practical application in manufacturing and construction environments. Knowledge of LOTOTO procedures. Demonstrated success in leading teams, engaging frontline employees, and influencing contractors. Experience in food manufacturing, chemical, or other regulated industries a plus. Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety/Professional), CHMM, or CIH strongly preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills to drive a safety-first, people-focused culture. Personal Attributes
Hands-on, pragmatic, and able to adapt to evolving project needs. Strong leadership presence with ability to engage and motivate both contractors and employees. Able to balance technical compliance with people development and cultural leadership. Analytical and detail-oriented, with a focus on proactive risk management.
