We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Accounting Manager (hands-on) to join our thriving engineering firm. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our financial management team, providing financial oversight to all our engineering projects. This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about financial management within an engineering context and is ready to take charge in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing the entire project accounting function within the engineering department.
  • Implementing and maintaining effective job costing systems and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of all projects.
  • Collaborating with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor project costs and analyze variances.
  • Ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all financial operations.
  • Reviewing and approving all project-related billings and invoices.
  • Providing financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting support to senior management.
  • Coordinating with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Developing and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the project accounting function.
  • Providing training and guidance to project accounting staff.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification will be considered an advantage.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in project accounting or a related field, preferably in the engineering industry.
  • Knowledge of other accounting skills- AR/ AP.
  • Knowledge of Deltek accounting system or similar accounting software
  • Proven experience with job costing and SOPs.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
