The Role
A Bartender is responsible for anticipating the needs of both our guests and team members, ensuring they have everything required for a complete and seamless experience. As an ambassador for the hotel and an extension of the community, the Bartender not only prepares and serves beverages but also serves as a guide offering recommendations, sharing knowledge, and creating meaningful interactions.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Welcome our guests and provide a fun, approachable and exceptional experience. Creating a culture of repeat clientele and new friends.
- Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel.
- Offer guests an enjoyable experience that conforms to the LINE’s standards of excellence, professionalism and friendliness.
- Deliver proactive and consistent hospitality through a strong understanding of the sequence of service and executing it with every guest interaction.
- Develop a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar, i.e. beers, cocktails, specialty drinks, daily specials and what is not available. Ensure proper pouring, mixing, blending of drinks.
- Have full knowledge of menu items, their ingredients and preparation techniques.
- Recommend cocktails, create new ones on guest request and pair appropriate beverage with the guest’s meal.
- Provide full food service to the guests at the bar and on the floor as needed.
- Be adept with the POS system to correctly and strategically coordinate guest orders.
- Stock the bar areas with beer, juices, soft drinks, glassware and condiments.
- Keep the bar area neat and tidy at all times, clearing dishes and glassware whenever possible.
- Ensure the bar is clean, stocked and all side opening and closing duties are completed.
- Follow alcohol awareness procedures and policies at all times.
- Take ownership of all service issues brought to your attention by guests.
- Receive payment for all items ordered, handle cash, provide appropriate receipt and distribute gratuity.
- Assist coworkers in any task necessary to ensure a great environment for guests and coworkers.
- Execute any additional employee duties requested by management.
- Maintain increased awareness of safety issues throughout the hotel.
- Participate in scheduled departmental and administrative meetings as requested.
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions.
- Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements.
Knowledge, Requirements And Skills
- High‑School diploma or GED preferred.
- College education or equivalent, hotel or business administration degree, preferred.
- Two (2) years’ related experience.
- Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English Language.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to handle a large volume of guest interactions efficiently and courteously.
- Work well under pressure, requires being a team player.
- Must have up to date state required certifications.
Working Conditions / Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The person having this responsibility may have to lift up to 30 lbs.
- The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day.
