Part‑Time HR Associate

Straton Industries is seeking a part‑time HR Associate to support the human resources function. The role is ideal for a college student majoring in Human Resources or a related field and offers 10–15 hours per week, starting at $25/hr. This internship has the potential to transition into a full‑time position.

Position Summary

The HR Associate will provide administrative support across onboarding, training, payroll, benefits, and compliance processes. Responsibilities include maintaining the learning management system, HR files, and various HRIS entries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer the LMS training database by maintaining employee training records and assisting with the creation of training presentations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of HR files and records.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files to ensure all required documents are properly filed.
  • Assist with payroll functions including processing, employee changes, and correcting processing errors.
  • Assist with processing terminations in HRIS, benefits systems, and ERP.
  • Conduct audits of payroll, benefits, or other HR programs and recommend corrective actions.
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and external HR providers and vendors.
  • Maintain and update physical and digital employee access credentials (e.g., key cards, security system).
  • Assist with compiling monthly HR metrics and reports, including turnover, review completion, and training status.
  • Support FAA Drug & Alcohol Program administration by maintaining the testing pool, records, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide clerical support to the HR department for special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a training administrator, HR assistant, or similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time‑management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and follow through.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, HRIS, and similar computer applications.
