Position Summary / Department Summary
Brief Overview
Physician Assistant, Plastic and Oral Surgery/Sedation to support its Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. This Physician Assistant will be responsible for seeing outpatient consults, providing IV conscious sedation, as well as first and second assisting in the OR.
Key Responsibilities
Administer IV conscious sedation, including IV placement, peri-, intra- and post-procedural assessment and monitoring of patients undergoing IV sedation in the office-based setting
Provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages and with all types of conditions
Elicit histories, perform examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, instruct and counsel patients about their diagnosis
Provide all aspects of pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as first or second assisting during surgery
Facilitate the appropriate referral of patients, consistent with his or her supervising physician’s scope of expertise and responsibility and delegated to him/her by the supervising physician
Working 40 hours per week, 4–10-hour days Monday through Friday in Boston and Waltham as well as the possibility of travelling to other satellite locations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Education
Masters in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of an accredited Physician Assistant's program
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific, or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge
Strong communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills
A strong interest in and understanding of the Plastic and Oral Surgery disciplines strongly preferred
Licensure / Certifications
A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant.
ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification (will provide training if not already certified)
