Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Share management responsibility for day-to-day operations of Alexandria-owned and on-loan laboratory equipment, including incubators, freezers, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, and other instruments. Work closely with the Laboratory Operations Director to implement and enforce standard operating procedures and programs for laboratory safety, safety training, chemical inventories, laboratory audits and permits, and hazardous waste disposal. Maintain up-to-date records for safety training, permits, incidents, and equipment maintenance. Train and assist members in the use of shared laboratory equipment. Coordinate vendor training when applicable. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and gases to ensure their continuous availability. Support and grow the LaunchLabs laboratory safety program. Manage chemical and biohazard waste in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Assist with general site operations, including package management, IT/AV troubleshooting, facilities request triaging, and organizing, stocking, and maintaining office and kitchen supplies. Interface with Alexandria Asset Services teams and vendors responsible for operational services (e.g., janitorial, pest control, laboratory services, and facilities maintenance). Develop and promote laboratory sustainability initiatives and educate member companies on existing programs. Manage select vendor relationships. Support the Laboratory Director with member meetings, including laboratory meetings and orientations. Assist the LaunchLabs team in planning, marketing, and hosting local ecosystem and strategic programming events to foster a vibrant and collaborative Alexandria LaunchLabs and AscentLabs community, including scientific events, business and professional development sessions, and social gatherings. Qualifications and Experience
At least 5 years of combined experience in a science-related organization or laboratory space, preferably in a collaborative or shared working environment. Strong customer service mindset and verbal and written communication skills to interact with individuals at all levels. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills and ability to work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively. Completion of or eligibility for relevant DOT, IATA, OSHA, Biosafety, and Chemical Safety trainings. Bachelor’s degree required. Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more. Primarily based at the Alexandria Center® for Life Science – Stanford Research Park, the Sr. Manager / Manager – Laboratory Operations will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day laboratory operations of the Alexandria LaunchLabs site and supporting LaunchLabs member companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ideal candidate will be a customer-facing, detail-oriented individual who is interested in interfacing with the dynamic life science and biopharma ecosystem while providing exceptional and safe laboratory operations and management support. The candidate will assist the Alexandria team in supporting multiple BSL2 laboratory and site operations at the Stanford Research Park campus for the Alexandria LaunchLabs and AscentLabs member companies, as follows: The expected base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000 USD annually, plus annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
