The Clinical Director is responsible for leadership and administration of nursing care and clinical operations in UC Davis Satellite Oncology Services outpatient clinics and infusion centers, including day‑to‑day operations at locations such as Rocklin, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, and C Street, oversight of satellite float teams, practice management, and infusion services. The Director ensures consistent, high‑quality, and compliant care delivery across all satellite sites, in alignment with UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center standards, maintaining federal and state regulatory compliance (including 8:11 standards), supporting regional access expansion, and integrating services across the oncology network. The Director partners with division and hospital leadership, Inpatient Oncology, pharmacy, Oncology Operations, Stem Cell Transplant, and the Cancer Care Network (offsite affiliations and LLCs). The Director reports to the Vice President of Oncology Services and Cell/Gene Therapy, and has a secondary reporting to the Chief Patient Care Services Officer in a matrix reporting structure. This role is a critical member of the Oncology Services leadership team, working closely with other Clinical Directors in the Cancer Care Division to optimize care delivery and maintain operational alignment across the cancer care continuum.

Minimum Qualifications

Current license as a registered nurse in the State of California.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master’s degree in Nursing or other related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than Nursing paired with a Master of Science in Nursing is accepted.

One year of oncology work experience.

Minimum 5–10 years in progressive nursing leadership experience in the ambulatory setting.

Experience with or in‑depth knowledge of the Magnet Recognition Program.

Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards and CA Title 22/24, and active participation in The Joint Commission survey.

Ability to apply the principles of the California Nurse Practice Act, the California Board of Registered Nursing, California Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatry Technicians, and California medical assistant laws and regulations.

Ability to interface effectively and productively with all UCDH clinical sites, allied departments, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and School of Medicine.

Ability to integrate the understanding of UCDH’s mission, commitments, and projects within a service‑oriented health care environment.

Ability to incorporate knowledge of the Joint Commission and Title 22 rules and regulations to assure that clinic programs and operations are in compliance.

Planning skills to analyze program goals and objectives given current and potential health care trends, to make accurate short and long‑term projections to establish program needs and resource requirements, and to advocate to secure potential sources of funds and revenues to meet those requirements.

This position requires interactions with high‑level federal and state government officials and executives with external organizations. In addition to these leaders, interactions with faculty, administrative and clinical staff, health system executive staff, and campus leadership requires excellent communication skills, political acumen, sensitivity, and tact.
